It's October, a time when ghouls, goblins, and ghosts roam free – and loads of sweets hit the market. So, we had our editorial staff go head-to-head debating their top Halloween candy. As you can imagine, the voting led to varied reactions, with some criticizing our dismissal of classics like Skittles and Milky Way. We even saw a heated debate over Candy Corn, with one scribe comparing it to "ear wax”. There was also ambiguity about what qualified as "Halloween candy."

Sam Gutierrez, our Social Media master, questioned, "Where are people getting Haribo?!?! Is it now a status symbol like king-size candy bars?” (Apparently, mini bags of these beloved German gummies were made just for Halloween.)

The results were a mixed bag of candies - let's see if your favorite made the cut.

Our Editorial Director, Dylan Garret, thinks you can't top Mike and Ike Mega Mix Sours. His praise for these sour gummies knows no bounds, even though they seem to be sold only at gas stations outside NYC.

Jason Horn, Senior Update Commerce Writer, is all about Banana Runts – something to do with the chemical that gives them their distinctive taste. On the other hand, Manichanh Naonady, Editor for Newsletters, will never refuse a Caramel Apple Pop, especially in autumn.

For News & Trending Editor Merlyn Miller, Butterfinger’s peanut butter core is hard to beat. Intriguingly, Editor in Chief Hunter Lewis suggests stealing Haribo gummies from your kids’ trick-or-treat bag and freezing them. Chandra Ram, Associate Editorial Director, On Food, goes for the lesser-spotted 100 Grand Bars for their crunch factor.

Food News & Deals Writer Adam Rothbarth swears by Nestlé Crunch and peanut M&Ms. According to Katie Macdonald, Director, News & Deals, Mounds is the winner. Karen Shimizu, Executive Editor, reminisces about her childhood with Nestlé Crunch, which is still a favorite, mainly when her kids go trick-or-treating.

Andee Gosnell, Assistant Food Editor, said Twix was the definitive candy. Chandra Ram, meanwhile, insists 100 Grand Bars bring something unique to the table - a crunchiness not found anywhere else.

Reese’s pumpkin-shaped treats could be the most perfect candy-to-peanut butter ratio, according to Update Writer Dillon Evans. Finally, according to Associate Food Editor Audrey Morgan, the classic breakable Kit Kat is the ultimate Halloween candy for limitless indulgences.

In conclusion, it looks like everyone has their own Halloween favorites. Here's hoping your candy bowl is stocked with your favorites this All Hallows' Eve!
