As fast-food giants are coming up with creative ways to win their customers back, Wendy’s is bringing the heat with a mouthwatering deal. Both McDonald's and Burger King recently introduced a new $5 menu, while Wendy’s unveiled a new low-cost breakfast offering which includes a small portion of seasoned potatoes and a choice between a bacon or sausage sandwich for only $3. Yet, none of these deals can compete with the surprise Wendy’s is cooking up for next week, where lovers of the classic Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger get a chance to enjoy their favorite burger for an astounding price of just one cent. Starting May 28th, fast-food enthusiasts can lay their hands on this well-loved burger for a price that mirrors a loose change that can be easily found between car seats.

This promotion celebrates National Hamburger Day by serving a delicious combination of a beef patty, applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and mayo. This irresistible offer, however, has a couple of conditions that need adherence. For starters, you must have the Wendy’s app installed or use the Wendy’s website to avail the bargain. Registration on the app requires a tad bit of personal information like your name and email address.

Additionally, the deal can be used only once during the promotional period, which lasts from May 28th until June 2nd. Attempts at combining this deal with any other offers will be unsuccessful, so if any free Frosty coupons are lying around, those would have to be stored away for another day.

This one-cent burger promotion is not foreign to Wendy’s fans. It was offered before on National Cheeseburger Day last fall and in May of last year to celebrate National Hamburger Month. Both times customers had to order their one-cent burgers through the Wendy’s app or website, similar to the upcoming promotion.

As for Burger King, a double celebration awaits. Apart from recognizing National Hamburger Day, May 28th marks the company’s 70th anniversary. To commemorate, rewards members can score a free burger on a purchase of 70 cents or more. The party continues all week until June 3, with a new freebie each day, ending with a free slice of Birthday Pie on Burger King's official birthday, June 1.
