Shake Shack Burgers to Take Flight with Delta Airlines
- Nov 26, 2024
Highway in the sky? Not quite, but your in-flight meals just got a tasty upgrade! Delta Airlines is revolutionizing the cabin dining experience by forging a unique partnership with the popular fast-food restaurant, Shake Shack. Starting December 1, passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy Shake Shack's signature mouthwatering cheeseburger not just on the ground, but soaring high amongst the clouds too. The unprecedented move which is to be launched from Boston is set to expand to additional markets throughout 2025.
There are, however, a couple of hurdles that passengers need to clear before they can savor that juicy burger at cruising altitude. For starters, the Shake Shack cheeseburger option is exclusively catered to our first-class passengers. Also, they will have to pre-order the burger at least 24 hours before their flight. Lastly, it's important to remember that this drool-worthy option is only available on flights that cover over 900 miles.
Stephanie Laster, managing director of Delta’s Onboard Service, expressed her excitement over the brand new venture stating, "A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food and our customers know that very well. The fact that burgers remain one of the most sought-after menu items we offer is a testament to that. We're enthused to elevate this offering with Shake Shack."
Danny Meyer, the Shake Shack founder who also established Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), isn’t a stranger to collaborations with Delta. In the past, he has provided meals via USHG’s catering branch for selected Delta flights out of John F. Kennedy airport in New York City. Shake Shack, heralded as a burger heaven since its birth in New York in 2004, is also where USHG has its operations center.
Bucket list-worthy and scrumptious define the Shake Shack Cheeseburger made with 100% Angus beef patty, crowned with cheese, and ensconced in a toasted potato bun. Flight passengers wanting to customize their burgers can add garnishes of tomato and lettuce, plus Shake Shack's signature ShackSauce on the side. Just when you thought it couldn't get better, the meal also includes chips, a Caesar salad, and a dark chocolate brownie gearing to mimic the chain's popular Shack Attack dessert.
Shake Shack proudly ventures into new territories to serve customers in unexpected locations, as affirmed by Michael Kark, the president of global licensing at the restaurant. Speaking on the high-flying collab, he stated, "We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet. With great pleasure, Shake Shack is partnering with Delta to raise the bar for in-flight dining and hospitality for travelers across the country."
