As we near the end of April, it's not surprising that many are daydreaming about bargains on unsold Valentine’s Day candies, yet it’s already time for the calendar to flip to May. After the flurry of Star Wars puns on May 4th, America looks set to indulge in Cinco de Mayo celebrations on Sunday, May 5.

Commended as a yearly acknowledgment of the unexpected victory of Mexican forces over a larger, better-equipped French army during the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, Cinco de Mayo is predominantly celebrated in the United States, as noted by History.com. Contrary to common belief, it is not the commemoration of Mexico’s independence, which is celebrated on September 16.

In the USA, Cinco de Mayo is aptly admired for its celebration of Mexican culture, particularly the diversity of food. The masters of burrito creation at Chipotle are commemorating the occasion with an offer spanning five days where they promise free delivery. Starting on Wednesday, May 1, and continuing until Sunday, May 5, customers can avail of this offer by using the promo code CINCO24 while placing orders on the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com, or Chipotle.ca for a $0 delivery fee.

Of course, there is some fine print attached. To be eligible for free delivery, the order must be above $10 USD or $12 CAD and the discount code cannot be applied to catering or Burritos by the Box orders. Additionally, the orders must be made through Chipotle’s proprietary platforms as the $0 delivery is not applicable through any other third-party delivery app.

This year’s celebration features an intriguing partnership with TikTok creator @Yanotom, who has devised an internet sensation named the "Chipotle Grilled Cheese Burrito". Yanotom’s creation involves ordering a Chipotle bowl filled with “literally every ingredient”, unloading it into the largest available tortilla, wrapping it up and heating it to achieve a “seal” of shredded cheese, coupled with a drizzle of sour cream and vinaigrette dressing.

As joyously stated by Stephanie Perdue, vice president of brand marketing at Chipotle, "The Chipotle Grilled Cheese Burrito hack is a delicious hack fans can recreate at home this Cinco de Mayo with our $0 delivery fee offer," adding "We love to amplify culinary menu innovations that showcase the creative combinations our fans come up with."

And for any Star Wars fans among you, feel free to utter a slew of related jokes as your $0 delivery bowl sizzles away. Echoing Yoda’s iconic speech style, as we could say, this enticing offer "lasts five days, this deal does".
