Taking a digital turn after almost 40 years in Aspen, Colorado, the Food & Wine Classic took place online this year. Even though the format was different, it was no less special. The two-hour fundraising extravaganza managed to raise a whopping $28,000 for charity and featured household names in the food and drink sector.

Gourmet personalities included Jacques Pépin, Stephanie Izard, Ayesha Curry, JJ Johnson, and the one who took center stage, Martha Stewart. True to her quintessential style, Stewart ended the event with a massive DIY cocktail demonstration.

Stewart, having shown how to make a refreshing peach pavlova earlier in the event, showcased her secret weapon for getting through the lockdown – the strawberry "Martha-Rita." With ingredients similar to a margarita-triple sec, tequila, and lime juice-this drink jazzes things up with some strawberry syrup. The syrup gives the drink a delicately rosy hue and adds a little something that makes it uniquely Martha's. She reveals, ''I use the leftover syrup from making homemade jam with the berries from my garden."

Stewart adds a tip about using leftover citrus, "Whenever I have extra limes or lemons, I squeeze the juice into plastic pint containers, label them, and put them in the freezer. This way, it's always ready to use for refreshing cocktails."

To replicate the Martha-Rita, mix together 2 cups freshly squeezed lime juice, 2 cups blanco tequila, 1/2 cup of triple sec, 1/4 cup strawberry syrup, and 1 to 2 cups ice cubes in a blender. The result is served in sizeable goblet-styled glasses, but fans are warned to avoid overenthusiastically salting the rims, "Add the salt only on the outer rim of the glass. People who don't prefer a lot of salt will appreciate it, and it looks much prettier." she advises.

This adaptable cocktail can be enjoyed before, during, or even after a meal, depending on your mood.

A range of recommended glassware for the Martha-Rita includes several options and sizes - from the 13.5-ounce margarita glasses for $21 on Amazon, the handmade, 15-ounce margarita glass from Crate and Barrel, the unique, 18-ounce margarita glass, the sizable 19-ounce acrylic glass, the versatile 21.5-ounce schooner glass, to the giant 33-ounce XL margarita glass from Amazon when you just need that extra capacity. The different styles and sizes cater to every preference and need, but regardless of the glass size, you're sure to relish the refreshing Martha-Rita.
