If you've ever eyed the stack of BuzzBallz at your local liquor store but have yet to take the plunge, this is for you. These pint-sized, orb-shaped cocktails, ready-to-enjoy out of their quirky cans, entice with exotic monikers like Cran Blaster, Forbidden Apple, and Lotta Colada. A brainchild of Merrilee Kick, a teacher from Plano, Texas in 2009, BuzzBallz soon evolved into a portable booze solution for beachgoers or pool partiers. Sazerac Company, custodians of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, acquired the brand earlier this year, sealing a deal over $1 billion.

Recently, I overcame my hesitation and brought home every possible flavor to see how it measures up. I specifically focused on BuzzBallz with hard spirit like vodka or tequila.

Beginning with a 'Tropical Sunrise' reminiscent drink, it tasted more like a Capri-Sun and Coppertone mixture. If you want to revive this flavour, consider adding tequila and orange juice, topping it with a dash of grenadine, recreating a Tequila Sunrise.

Maybe Fuzzy Navel isn't your go-to anymore, but this BuzzBall will transport you to Waikiki Beach while sipping peach schnapps. Its peach-flavored freeze pop would taste wonderful blended into a Chardonnay-filled sangria, with added fresh peaches.

Their rendition of a Cape Codder, boasts flavors identical to a vodka and cranberry cocktail from an 80s bowling alley bar. A twist of lime and triple sec, or simple combination with orange juice, easily rescues this variety.

Their coconut flavor, while dominant, is not distasteful. A straightforward solution: blend it with traditional Piña Colada ingredients. Or, for an adventurous dinner, integrate it into Thai curry.

The undefined mango flavor, more similar to tropical fruit Skittles, comes with a surprisingly pleasant chili kick. Your best bet? Add soy sauce and use it as a marinade for a skirt steak.

Despite failing to deliver on its apple-centric promise, the Forbidden Apple tastes like a retro Appletini. Elevate your experience with dry Prosecco for an impromptu sparkling cider.

A bar staple from the 90s, the buzzballz watermelon flavor is reminiscent of infused vodka Martini. Blend it with some rum, tropical juices, and lime wheels to liven it up.

The Espresso Martini variant, a solid contender, works well- whether you sip it straight-up or drown vanilla flavoured Ben & Jerry's ice-cream for a spiked Affogato.

The tropical Pineapple Colada flavour, while delicious, tastes slightly soapy. Still, you could consume it outdoors, or blend it with red wine and fruit into a refreshing sangria.

The creamy vodka-based BuzzBall can pass for a Sombrero, perfect for a sip after a long day. Transform it into a boozy Mochaccino topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Finally, we reach the Tequila 'Rita. Despite the controversial sour mix, this ready-to-drink cocktail is genuinely satisfying, and with a shot of Cuervo Gold and Cointreau, it's a Margaritaville delight waiting to happen.
