Drinking games aren’t only a staple at frat parties or backyard barbeques. It's about more than just the consumption of alcohol, it's about starting conversations, fostering connections, and admittedly, slightly inebriating. America certainly has its fair share of popular drinking games, but there are so many other fun-filled options from around the globe waiting to be discovered. From South Korea's soju-centric games to Australia's cultural staple involving wine bags on a rotating clothesline, the ways to imbibe are endless.

"Drinking games were a huge part of my growing up in Hong Kong," a writer named Kiki Aranita shared. All participants gather in a circle and follow an interactive, quick-paced pointing game, ending with the person who errs taking a swig of their beverage. Gather your friends and keep your senses sharp for this fast-moving festivity.

Another game that’s perfect for a group is a target practice style amusement. Consisting of two opposing teams, each participant holding a beer bottle, they aim at a centrally placed water bottle. A successful hit results in a chugging session. The team out of beer first, for once, is the winner of the game.

When it comes to food-themed fun with a Spanish twist, Carlos Soto, founder of Nosotros Tequila, favors a game requiring the participants to adopt a fruit name with a Spanish diminutive attached. The goal is not to laugh or reveal your teeth while calling one another with their fruit names. Failure to avoid a chuckle results in a gulp of your drink.

Australians enjoy a game revolving around their wine-in-a-box affectionately known as "goon." Attached to a spinning clothesline known as a Hills Hoist, the goal here is quite simple – you spin the clothesline, and if the wine bag ends up in front of you, you drink.

For lovers of Korean alcohol, soju, a popular game awaits. Any number of players take turns flicking the hanging end of the soju metal can till it breaks off. The person causing the break-off gets to down the rest of the soju bottle.

So, go ahead, gather your friends, get your alcohol of choice, and spice up your regular drinking sessions with these international drinking games.
