While countries like France, Spain, and Italy often steal the limelight in the global wine scene, the United States is a leading wine powerhouse. With more than 250 American Viticultural Areas (AVA) and over 10,000 wineries, it is more than your average vineyard. Many of these establishments go beyond just making wine - they offer exclusive tours, tastings, and partnerships with high-end chefs to boast some of the best eateries in the nation.

In 2024, USA TODAY 10Best enlisted a group of wine experts to nominate top choices in 10 wine-related categories, then invited its readers to make a final decision on their favorites. Below, we reveal this year's victors.

Let's start with Naked Wines, a club that supports independent winemakers, allowing its members, or 'Angels', to access exclusive wines at insider prices. Members pay a monthly fee and can order from these independent creators at their convenience.

Next, we have the best wine resort, Chateau Chantal. Located a stone's throw away from Traverse City, Michigan, it marries a vineyard and winery with a luxurious bed & breakfast experience. Most rooms provide unmatched views of vineyards or Grand Traverse Bay, and even feature private patios or balconies, also letting you enjoy their fireplaces, sitting areas, and a splendid breakfast spread.

In the category of wine festivals, San Diego's week-long event stood out. Here top-class winemakers, celebrity chefs, authors, brewmasters, and mixologists entertain visitors with a variety of activities.

Washington's Yakima Valley reigned supreme as the best wine region. Known as the pioneer of the state's wine industry, it is blessed with 300 days of sunshine, creating a breathtaking travel destination packed with pure scenic beauty and high-quality wineries.

In the Lowcountry, a charming wine and Cuban cigar shop is your one-stop destination for exceptional boutique wines, prayers are heard by Cuban-born owner, Juan Carlos Jiménez, at ta·ca·rón. This venue also hosts a wine club and private tasting sessions.

For an unforgettable tasting room experience, head to the Estate Tasting Room at Willamette Valley Vineyards. The vineyard offers classic tasting experiences, suggests food pairing and even lets you design your own tasting journey.

Visitors looking for a special wine tour will find an unmatched experience with Snake River Wine Tours. Its guided trips through "The Heart of Idaho Wine Country" brings visitors to four of the region's most acclaimed wineries in the Sunnyslope Wine Trail.

While Europa Village's Bolero Restaurante clinched the title for best winery restaurant. Step in to taste Spain, with a tempting tapas-style menu accompanied by full-bodied Temecula wines.

In the Finger Lakes wine region of New York stands Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, this year's best winery tour. The 1886 Wine Experience includes a guided viticultural or cellar tour, followed by a seated wine tasting, from May through October.

Lastly, French Bloom took the award for best non-alcoholic wine, founded by women wanting to offer celebratory alternatives without alcohol, with two bottles featuring blends of chardonnay and pinot noir.

With so much on offer, these winners are an unmissable part of any wine lover's itinerary. Stay tuned for more updates on 10best.usatoday.com to participate in further Reader's Choice Awards.
