If you're planning on whipping up a pasta dish anytime soon, you might want to inspect your pantry first. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) released a recall notice in June for several products from Wildly Beloved Foods over concerns of potential mold contamination.

The Washington-based food company is said to be calling back roughly 30 packs of Orzo (vegan) Dried and 30 packs of Campanelle (vegan) Dried, all in 10-ounce packages, due to suspicion of mold growth.

Repurchasers of Orzo (vegan) Dried, 10oz can identify the affected product by its transparent compostable bag labeled with the lot number WBF-SEMPLV-CL-050724-A and an expiration date of May 7, 2025. The product was distributed in several locations such as Payless Foods, The Star Store, a number of Farmer’s Markets including Bayview, Redmond, Woodinville, Tilth, and Everett, and the Wildly Beloved Foods Marketplace across Washington.

Purchased Campanelle (vegan) Dried, 10oz bags were similarly distributed in locations throughout Washington. These include the Bayview, Redmond, Woodinville, Tilth, and Everett Farmer’s Markets, along with the Wildly Beloved Foods Marketplace. The product comes in clear, compostable packaging, identifiable by lot number WBF-SEMPLV-CL-051724-A and an expiration date of May 17, 2025.

According to the FDA's recall notice, there have been no known illnesses at the time linked to the potentially moldy products. The recall was initiated after the company found three retail packages of their product starting to show signs of mold due to being under-dried.

It is noteworthy to mention that not all molds pose a health risk, but in certain cases, some could be harmful, as the Cleveland Clinic pointed out. "If you experience symptoms like an elevated temperature, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or nausea after consuming possibly spoiled food, medical help should be sought immediately," the Cleveland Clinic advised in a post. Dietitian Lillian Craggs-Dino also warned of possible delayed allergic reactions after mold consumption, so suggesting that those who have ingested the potentially contaminated product should remain watchful.

In light of this, the FDA is urging consumers who have bought either the Orzo or Campanelle vegan dried pasta products to return them to their point of purchase for a full refund or discard them immediately. Wildly Beloved Foods is also asking customers with questions regarding this recall to contact them directly at 360-321-5000.
