A video of Vice President Kamala Harris was recently unearthed that proves she's not just adept at politics. Among a stream of predictable political posts, a clip from Harris' short-lived YouTube series "Cooking with Kamala" has gone viral after President Biden's endorsement. Accruing nearly 5.5 million views, the video showcases Harris' effortless technique of cracking an egg one-handed, a feat she makes look deceptively easy.

In the viral footage, we see a relaxed, buoyant Harris in her natural habitat. She's laughing, effortlessly assembling batter, and nimbly handling a hand-held mixer. She exclaims, “This is the beginning of any good cookie recipe.” Clearly, her comfort in the kitchen is far from a political gimmick.

Keiry Palma, a chef-instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education, praises Harris' egg-cracking abilities as being on par with culinary pros. According to Palma, Harris demonstrates superior egg-handling skills when she cleanly separates the egg and maintains control of its contents. Palma acknowledges that while egg-cracking seems straightforward, mastering the task requires practice. To develop Harris' kind of skill, begins with a few practical tips.

"Start by softly breaking the egg on a flat surface while your fingers are curled around the egg’s lower half. This technique prevents the yolk from breaking and safeguards against the spread of bacteria," Palma advises. If shell fragments end up in the bowl, the shell's half can scoop them out. Palma suggests that patience and practice are key to honing the one-handed egg crack. Over time, you will develop the muscle memory and technique for clean, neat cracks, as Harris did.

Culinary skills are not a new hobby for Vice President Harris; they have a long history in her life. She documented her love for cooking during her 2020 presidential campaign in "Cooking with Kamala." The series had her preparing a variety of recipes with guests from celebrities to constituents.

In one episode, Harris teams up with comedian Mindy Kaling, preparing masala dosa while discussing their own food-related family memories. The series traveled around the US, showcasing local cuisine and different culinary traditions.

Harris's love of food extends to more than just her cooking skills. She has proven to be a significant presence in the restaurant scene in Washington D.C., where several chefs have shared photos of her visiting their establishments. Recently, Harris was even spotted savoring ice cream with supermodel Tyra Banks at a local ice cream shop.

As we await the 2024 election, one thing is certain: it will be infused with a flavor different from previous campaigns.
